Terry Pazmiño - Ecuadorian Guitarist

Terry PazmiñoMusic from Central and South America

The compositions and performances of Pazmiño are the result of his constant search for his Ecuadorian/Andean roots as well as indigenous sources of South American music. In his youth he focused on Ecuadorian popular music, such as the sanjuanito, pasillo, capishca and yumbo. Subsequently, he traveled to Venezuela and France to study with three masters of the instrument: Antonio Lauro, Alirio Diaz and Alberto Ponce to receive international recognition and become the guitar embassador of Ecuador. In his NEGS recital he will present his own works and Ecuadorian traditional music arrangements, as well as works by Brazilian, Venezuelan and Paraguayan composers.

As the most sought after Paraguayan guitarist, Luz Maria Bobadilla has toured more than 34 countries to perform in prestigious halls such as the Madrid National Auditorium, Buenos Aires Colon Theater Buenos Aires, The Opera Theater in Cairo, Purcell Room in London, Music Hall in Tokyo among many others. A versatile performer she is not only an expert interpreter of Barrios’ music, but also a fantastic virtuoso guitarist. In her NEGS program titled “Six Light Rays’, she will present music from South America and works by Barrios and Jazz Suite by Alexander Vinitsky.

Spanish guitarist Juan Jose Saenz’ US debut recital at Wesleyan University in 2007 was a huge success, the performer captivating the audience with his extraordinary interpretative skills, exceptional sound quality and solid technique. This season Juan Jose Saenz brings his Spanish program to Milford presenting all time favorite works by Turina, Tarrega, Torroba, Albeniz, Bacarisse and much more.

The Juilliard School Showcase: Joao Kouyoumdjian, Gohar Vardanian

One of the most important arts schools in the world, The Juilliard School has been the alma mater of legendary actors, dancers and musicians such as Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma. Under the direction of Sharon Isbin, the guitar department has trained various worldwide-established guitarists including the NEGS Artistic Director, Cem Duruoz.

In this annual NEGS fundraiser, Joao Kouyoumdjian and Gohar Vardanian will represent The Juilliard Guitar Department in a joint recital featuring solos and duos.
